Integrated CASE-BASED AND RULE- BASED REASONING APPROACH FOR INSURANCE

چکیده

The project involves the development of a custom designed hybrid AI application for a company for capturing process improvement knowledge. The company in question is based in Bangalore and is a vendor to General Electric. Considering the competitive nature of the manufacturing industry and the demands from customers for competitive prices, it has become necessary for vendor companies to not only become innovative but to also have a proper knowledge management system in place to store innovation knowledge. The AI application developed is a simple knowledge management system that will enable the above company to store innovation and process improvement knowledge so that the same can be transferred to all concerned persons in the company and can be applied when manufacturing new components. The application was developed using a hybrid AI shell (Sonar, 2004), which is a web based application that allows multiple users simultaneous access to the knowledge base from different locations, since the AI system shell and database tables reside on the server. Using this system the entire knowledge base is stored in one location, which makes it easy for access and updation. Trials carried out on the application using a small database of cases have shown satisfactory results.
